There will be a lot of conversation which is critical. I felt I improved quite a bit in just a week. Montpellier is a great town. The tram is very close to the home and it is easy to get to town on line 2. The apartment is perfectly adequate with a separate living area, kitchen, bath and bedroom. Carrefour is one stop or a 10 min walk away to buy supplies for your other meals. I recently completed a 5-day French immersion with Anne-Elizabeth and it exceeded my expectations! It was truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! From the moment she picked me up at the airport, we spoke only French. And even though I was SO nervous at first, after having spent so many years out of practice, she was patient and kind and corrected me all along the way. She really helped to build my confidence in the language. Our morning lessons were centered around real conversation — sharing my story, discussing what I did during my free time. Through our conversations, she identified mistakes I was making and areas of improvement, and she corrected me in real time, and then built lessons around that. She’s a wonderful teacher. What really stood out was her warmth and hospitality. Lunches with her and her husband were so enjoyable, and she also took me around to show me parts of town. One day we went hiking, which was one of my favorite memories of the week! I arrived nervous, but I left with confidence and a much stronger grasp of the language. My confidence to speak, and ability to engage in conversations has improved greatly under her guidance. J'ai trouvé l'immersion française très utile. J'ai appris à étudier plus efficacement. C'était un programme de la langue et de la culture françaises. C'est un excellent programme. La maison est très proche du tramway. J'ai pu visiter Montpellier beaucoup plus facilement. J'ai aussi apprécié visiter certains villages proches. I believe that I really profited by having time there. I liked the style - we were doing lots of exercises, listening to texts and then commenting on the context, answering questions and discussing relevant issues that arose in the course of the exercise. We discussed many tricky (for me) issues that I came across before and could not work out the answers to myself. I learnt a lot, in my opinion that hopefully will form a solid base for my future efforts. Last but not least - Anne-Elisabeth has a great cook for a husband and lunches prepared by him we're a real treat and sometimes a great show when it happened to be a "flambé" dish! We also had a couple of great trips that I am always looking forward to as I am a Francophile and the area around Montpelier is great to visit. When it is done in great company is a real treat! My husband and I were searching for a school in the Montpelier area where we could improve our French grammar, comprehension and speaking ability. We were fortunate to find Anne-Elizabeth (The French Language Coach). She and her husband, Michel live in Castelnau-le-Lez/Montpellier, just a two minute walk to a short tram ride to the Place de la Comédie/center of Montpellier. We took immersion classes with her over a two week period and greatly improved our French speaking ability. Anne-Elizabeth clearly explains grammatical nuances and patiently corrects French pronunciation. She emphasizes everyday phrases and promotes conversation so that the experience is totally interactive. She identified our weaknesses and focused on correcting them. Anne-Elizabeth is an excellent teacher - knowledgeable, diligent and extremely capable. She and Michel (a great cook) are a delightful couple and we became good friends over our meals and conversations together. There is much to do and see in the Montpellier area, not least the beautiful city centre blending old and new architectural styles.
